Fukusui Clan

History and Beginnings:

The Fukusui clan is shrouded in mystery. Very early in the tiny village of Suna, retrieving and keeping clean fresh water was a daily struggle. Many perished from dehydration or sickness from ingesting tainted water the first leader, who was to become the first Kazekage, Reto, was quickly growing more and more concerned. He couldn't run a settlement let alone a fledgling village with it's members dropping from sickness.
One day, a group of people arrived in the village. Many feel that they had been watching them struggle for sometime like this before they approached. They were given an opportunity to meet with Reto and asked for a place for themselves as members in the village to work and live as shinobi. In return, they would find and create a stable and safe water source for him and his people. Reto was highly skeptical. Of course people of the desert where not skilled with water based ninjutsu and he felt as though this group of people, who called themselves the Fukusui, where blowing nothing but hot air. Finally, Reto challenged them to prove themselves. If they could find water safely and secure it effectively for longterm use he would honour their request as well as give them a position of esteem. Undetered, the Fukusui set to their tasks and spread out around the parameters of the tiny village to focus their chakra, and with some time and hard concentration they honed in on an underground stream, sensing it buried deeply under the sand. Reto watched in disbelief as the Fukusui gathered again and together they summoned a massive geyser. Many villagers had to pick up and move a distance away to avoid the damage. Soon the geyser died down, half of the Fukusui set to gather stones while the other half dug a deep well where the water had spewed from. Within a few days a large well was built with a continual source of fresh groundwater at the villages disposal. Reto was amazed not to mention thankful to the Fukusui and true to his word he granted them their wish, a place of esteem in the village.
Over the next several years and with the steady growth of Suna, the Fukusui where used many more times to create more wells around the village. Once the villages growth was at it's peak the demand for the Fukusui's talents dyed significantly. By then Reto had passed on the second Kazekage, Shamon, had taken power. Shamon, unlike his predecessor was less inclined to spend his attentions on the Fukusui. He was absorbed in researching the Jinchuuriki and slowly let go of the esteem and honours that had been bestowed on them by Reto, forgetting just how much this clan had done for this village. Disheartened and angry at this disregard by the their new Kazekage this was the period of time that the clan had the worst relations with their leader at any point in their history and some had contemplated leaving the village all together. Once the third Kazekage came into power he was aware of the bitterness that had been festering within the Fukusui for many years and set out to remind them just how detrimental they were in the development of Suna. This was enough for them. Their usefulness for finding water sources may have been outlived but what they really wanted to was to be remembered for their contributions. The third rectified this in their minds. Still they wait for another time when their kage may ask them to help him or her again.
To this day no one is quite sure of where the Fukusui came from, and most will probably never know.

Appearance:

Fukusui clan members, first and foremost are instantly recognizable by the blue hollow diamond shaped tattoo over their left eyes.

One week after a child is born this marking is placed on them to signify their place within the clan. Many have come to playfully refer to the marking as "the all seeing water eye" from people both outside of the clan and from within. Obviously the Fukusui realize their talents have nothing to do with sight at all but tradition is tradition in their minds and so they continue this clan right to this day.
Members have unusual hair colours considering where they come from which is in a variety of grey-blues as well as their eyes have similar colouration. Skin colours are average to tan in shade but are never seen to be pale. Men can are generally of medium build as well as height where they are referred to as neither short no tall just average. Women on the other hand as considered petite in every where from their body mass to their heights. Fukusui are fond of covering their heads to protect themselves from the direct sunlight so they are frequently seen to wear bandages, head scarves, turbans and sheets to cover the neck and shoulders. They dress appropriately for the harsh desert environment, keeping themselves covered from the blistering heat as well as the blowing sand also keep to earth tone clothing as a preferred colour.

Personalities:

Members are in general very high-minded, disciplined and loyal. They think highly of themselves partially from the great success they had in the village when it was first founded. This has a double sided edge to it though and as a result the Fukusui have a streak of snobbish attitudes in them which is only compounded in recent generations with the lack of use they have within the village since the wells where built and have been well maintained. They feel a little "left out in the cold" since they usefulness for detecting underground water sources has dried up, though they still feel a need to receive gratitude for the major role their clan played in the stabilization of Suna. It seems to be taking a long time for their ego's to settle back down to a normal size. Regardless of the disregard they seem to be getting in recent years they hold strong ties and loyalty to Suna and continue to work hard for their Kazekage. Perhaps hoping that one day, their talents will be of huge use to the village once again.
This snobbish attitude earns them no favours though and many feel that their time to shine has passed. People simply seem to have forgotten that if it hadn't been for the Fukusui, Suna would never would have grown to the size it is now let alone have been stable enough to be named one the 5 great shinobi villages.

Abilities:

The Fukusui clan are sensory type ninja who specialize in the ability to sense and detect water sources deep under ground. This is their strong point in their view, given the arid desert they call home this is an essential ability they feel should not be taken lightly...even if it has been used very little in the past few generations. Water sensing is a technique that requires a huge amount of concentration and focus and it's never done easily. Some will take several hours to several days to hone in on a water source depending on how deeply buried it is. Aside from this sensing ability which they can also use to do tracking work, they are one of the few clans in Suna with water chakra natures. Again, this is debated on wether they are truly Suna natives or are refugees from Kiri because of their water chakra natures many are highly suspicious of their founding which the Fukusui keep as a guarded secret. Techniques used are mostly long range as Fukusui will attempt to avoid a close range battle as much as they can. They focus on their chakra sensing and aid their partners and teammates with long range water blasts, water whips and when trying to take out a large amount of enemies as quickly as possible they'll summon geysers from underground water sources. This technique is usually handled in groups as it takes a large amount of chakra to handle the massive amount of water they're summoning to push up through the earth. Many have speculated that this technique is the reason why oasis' are scattered throughout the nation as the result of massive geysers that members had summoned during particularly difficult battles.

Family:

Fukusui families are pretty small. Most families will have at least one child but it's very uncommon to see more then three children to one couple. Children are anything but spoiled in this clan are brought up well disciplined. They start training and honing their sensing abilities from the age of six, just before entering the academy and are watched closely by their parents to make sure they're not slacking off. At the same time, children develop their superior attitudes quite young as parents have the bad habit of telling their children they're very special, frequently. This gives the kids the impression that they are better then the other children in Suna and as a result have a hard time finding and keeping friends. Children can be pushy and self-centered which makes them unpleasant to be around for other kids. In the long run, Fukusui children grow up lonely and yearning for outside friendships, and in the end, sometimes turn out ill adjusted for dealing with other people. It's their way or the highway to them.

Marriage:

Marriage is a must in the Fukusui clan. Living with someone whom you are not married too is considered very taboo and is not tolerated. Members in the clan tend to like to arrange marriages for their children to notable or powerful, well respected families. In recent years this custom has been bucked quite strongly by the younger generation who want the right to choose whom they marry themselves. This creates much friction between the old and the young, were prospective husbands and wives who are unfortunate enough to see or be caught in the middle of this clash of wills are sometimes scared away, not wanting to be at the center of a clan fight. However, when an agreeable arrangement is met members take their engagements and marriages seriously. Fukusui members trek out into the desert on the eve of their wedding to search through oasis', searching for the clearest, purest water they can find. Upon finding it they will take a tiny amount in a vile which they will bring back to their significant other who will wear it on their person as a necklace. This for a clan member, symbolizes the purity of their intentions for their new lover and some will go to extremes to find the clearest water possible. Some have never returned from their search and many presume they are still looking.
I'm sorry for it being short and a jumbled mess....I'm by no means a writer so this was very awkward for me.... I'll probably add more when I think of it and expand on it but here are the basics
