A Mother's Moment of Slumber

He would kick; he would scream; he would spit; he would drool—he would do a number of things that would make anyone wonder why his mother still smiled and kept on working at the onsen as if nothing had changed. It must be hard on her, they thought. However, Kaiya Hatake loved her baby son, Kiyoshi, and she knew that she had to keep on working in order to take care of her son.

Although, it was not easy on her...after all, she was just a civilian woman working in the onsen—and her husband was a Shinobi. He would often leave her for several nights at a time, leaving her to worry about him, and leaving her to single-handedly take care of their son.

At that particular time, Kakashi was, in fact, gone on a mission—and Kaiya was left to take care of Kiyoshi on her own. The days were long and her work was tiresome, and she would often be excruciatingly tired after the end of each day she was left to take care of him by herself. She did not mind, however—she loved them both, and would do anything to take care of them.

She would throw her work yukata off, pull on the yukata she was to sleep in, fall onto the bed—her long, green hair sprawled all over the pillow and her soft, blue eyes sealed shut—and fall immediately asleep. She would often dream of the days when Kakashi would come walking back through the front door. However, the sounds of her wailing child would wake her.

She would go off, tend to her wailing child until his noise ceased, and then return to her peaceful sleep and lovely dreams—on a warm bed that only a mother's love could pry her from its comfort

Many thanks to for writing this lovely little drabble to go along with this pic! I had fun colouring it and the whole story brings it all together for me. Being a new mom is exhausting but there is nothing on earth a loving mom wouldn't do for their baby. Including sacrificing sleep LOL. I think she looks terribly exhausted here X3 Hope you all like it!
